I think it's inappropriate on part of the BJP functionaries to take an unsolicited action against Mr. Jaswant singh just because he wrote a book on Jinnah. Apart from being a BJP member, he's also an individual human being and as a citizen of this country, he has a right to have his opinion.
Well, only him ? We should encourage a healthy debate on the subject of `Partition' and allow everybody who has a view of his own or anyone who could really throw light on the `not so talked about' matter of the reasons for the partition of India.
In fact, we should go one more step ahead and re-think of the re-unification of the indian sub-continent. I sincerely feel that if the politicians of both the countries get out of the `power chair race' and if the Pakistani Armed forces shun their vested interests, even now a reconciliation could be possible and who knows? We could also re-unite and make the united India, as it was supposed to be there in 1947. But, mind you... it's veeerrry difficult !
If not re-unification, at least border less entity with membership of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka could be evolved with single currency and free passage to the citizens. Even the Unique ID project can encompass the citizens of this joint entity. We could name it as Union of South Asian Nations or something like that. Readers ! Just think .... is it really that difficult ??? Yes, it is indeed. Because ...then we would find that even today the similar parties / political groups would stand in the way of such an effort and the similar obstacles would be put by various such groups. Some would get agitated.. They'd feel - " What ? Instead of seven presidents, seven Prime ministers and seven sets of ministers ONLY ONE ? Where the hell would we go ? " But then, I feel if not today but at least within next 20 or 30 or may be 50 years, the good sense would prevail... when the common folks from all these nations would become educated and wiser... Then exactly this dream would come true. Pl. think...Can we do this ??
